Our two national assessment schemes – Worksafe Contractor and Worksafe Consultant have been designed to allow you to demonstrate your Health and Safety competence simply and quickly.
As a fully registered member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) forum, your Worksafe certificate will be recognised by all other members of the forum – meaning that you should not have to complete further full Health & Safety assessment questionnaires for SSIP members (details at www.ssip.org.uk)
In line with H&S legislation and Industry best practice, many clients will only use contractors and consultants selected from an approved database who have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence in their H&S management systems. Many buyers are also looking for the SSIP logo as a reassurance that the assessment meets the stringent criteria set by the HSE. Both the SMAS Worksafe schemes are assessed to this standard.
If you have already successfully completed a H&S Scheme offered by a current SSIP member you will not need to complete a full H&S questionnaire/assessment with us. You will simply need to contact us to obtain our brief verification form, confirm your current SSIP accreditation, and provide copies of your current Insurance documentation. Once verified you will receive a Worksafe certificate and the Worksafe logo. There will be a small administration fee of £25 + vat for this service.

SMAS will help you through the assessment process at every stage, providing easy to complete forms, detailed guidance notes and a telephone helpline. With this level of support most applications pass first time but if for any reason you do not meet the criteria we will provide guidance and support on exactly what additional information is required and will re-assess the application at no further cost.
Assessments will normally be completed within 3 to 5 working days.
